           Stanna Michelle Slater (born Jeffery Slater) became a licensed Arizona attorney in 1989.

           Stanna  founded  the  Law Office of  Jeffery S. Slater in 1999 after  practicing  10 years  with Arizona's finest  trial  lawyers  (handling  the  most complex  civil cases,  including disputes  alleging  medical malpractice).

           Since its launch, the  Law Office of Jeffery Slater has represented  a  diverse  group  of  insurance  companies,  healthcare  providers, corporations (publicly-traded and closely-held), estates and individuals.  Stanna  is recognized as "Distinguished" by Martindale - Hubbell (Attorney Peer Reviews) for  professional  achievements  and  ethics.     She  has  received  the   Superb designation  by  the  Avvo Online Directory of Attorneys.

           While  practicing Law,  Stanna  has  devoted  substantial  time  trying  to advance  the  interests of  those  who  identify as  Transgender  or  Gay.  Stanna currently serves as the  LGBT Liaison  for the  City of Scottsdale, where she also serves  on  the  Scottsdale  Police  Chief's  Community Engagement Committee.  Stanna  is  a  former  Chair  of  the  Arizona  State  Bar's  Committee on  Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity  (SOGI),  where  she  served  for  six  consecutive years.  While on the State Bar's  SOGI Committee, Stanna was appointed by the State Bar  to  also  serve on  a  special  Task Force  commissioned to review the  lawyer ethics rule, ER8.4, pertaining to unlawful bias and prejudice.  Stanna has also  served on  the  Board of Directors  at  one•n•ten, an Arizona nonprofit that strives to empower youth who identify as  Transgender  or  Gay.

            In  2016,   Stanna  was  recognized  by  the  City  of  Scottsdale  as  a Diversity Champion  and by Arizona Foothills Magazine  as  one  of the  Women Who  Move  the  Valley.


               Stanna earned the Juris Doctor degree in 1989 from the University of Denver College of Law.

                In law school, Stanna served on the Denver University Law Review, where her contributions included extensive published analyses on opinions rendered by the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

                 Before law school, Stanna studied Journalism at the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.

              In conjunction with earning a bachelor’s degree, Stanna was commissioned in 1986 as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve (through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Oklahoma).  This followed achievements that included the award of an academic scholarship and selection as a cadet to attend the US Army's prestigious Airborne (Paratrooper) Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, where Stanna learned to parachute and earned the coveted “Silver Wings” Parachutist Badge.

                 Beginning in 1986, Stanna served as an officer in the US Army Reserve (USAR) for a total of 13 years, devoting three of these years specifically to Arizona by serving in the 153rd Field Artillery Brigade of the Arizona Army National Guard.  While in the National Guard, Stanna achieved the rank of Captain and was awarded, among other honors, the Army Commendation Medal.   After completing service to the USAR, Stanna received Honorable Discharge in 1999.
